On why we do things differently
How It Started
I got my start as a teenager on Long Island, printing t-shirts out of my mom's basement. What began as orders for friends turned into work for local businesses. And it taught me what most of this industry is built on: forgettable "swag."
The drawstring bags that sit in a closet forever. The t-shirts that shrink after one wash. The tote bags thin enough to see through.
Everyone in the industry knows this. It's not built to last. It's built to hit a price point.
Then the blanket showed up.
My girlfriend at the time was a nurse. Her employer wanted to thank the staff, so they sent everyone a branded blanket.
Thin. Scratchy. A logo that would peel off after one wash. Something no one would ever actually use.
Someone spent money on it. Someone shipped it across the country. And somehow it felt more like a burden than a gift. Another thing to figure out what to do with.
That's when it hit me: every piece of merch is a message. And most companies are accidentally saying "we don't really care."
In 2019, we built Merchwell around one idea: only create things people actually want to keep.
That means brands like YETI, The North Face, Patagonia, Marine Layer, and Stanley. Products with weight to them. Products people would buy with their own money.
But it's not just what we offer. It's how we deliver it. We obsess over the details most vendors ignore: the satin tissue paper, the silk-touch note cards that make a first impression before anyone even sees the product. Every touchpoint is intentional.
Sustainability is also a priority. We prioritize certified B Corporations, 1% for the Planet members, and products made with recycled and organic materials. Quality matters too—because the greenest product is one that actually gets used.
Who We Are
Today, Merchwell operates from just outside New York City with production partners across the United States.
We handle projects of every scale with the same level of attention. Twenty-five executive gifts or twenty thousand welcome kits. The quality never wavers.
We also manage the logistics that used to make merchandise programs complicated: collecting addresses, warehousing inventory, shipping on your timeline. You share the vision. We bring it to life.
